Hydraulic valves are devices that regulate, direct or control the flow of the hydraulic fluid by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways.
By function, valves can be:

The main build forms of hydraulic valves in the system are:
- In-line valves, which are similar to fittings in the pipe system
- CETOP valves, which are using a hydraulics-specific build system using base plates and valves built onto it.
- Cartridge valves fitted into HICs (Hydraulic Integrated Circuit), which are custom manifolds with special cavities designed to accept the valve cartridges
